With the introduction of new Continuous and Comprehensive
Evaluation (CCE) system for students of
X, NCERT hopes that this
will improve the quality of education in school and will certainly
liberate the learning and teaching process from its straitjacket.
However, the critics doubt if the new system would turn out to be a
success because of the following reasons:
- The reform does not address issues related to the functioning
of schools and the Board.
- Before the implementation of reform, no training has been done
to acquaint the teachers with the new system.
- Neither the schools nor parents have demanded for such a reform
and the reform is externally driven.
- The teachers are CCE-illiterate and
will increase tension among students since they are clueless about
the modalities of the new system of evaluation.
